Cycle Life under different DOD, Ambient Temperature, Discharge Current

Cycle life is a key parameter for Lithium ion battery especially for storage application.

Cycle life is primarily affected by the depth of discharge (DOD).

However, ambient temperature and discharge current also play minor role.

Ambient temperature is different from the temperature measured on the body of the battery cell. Here assuming there is sufficient ventilation for the battery.

Lithium ion battery works well from 25 – 55 deg. C. Low temperature below -25 deg. C will lower the effective capacity of the battery, and therefore affects DOD.

The higher discharge current can lower the effective capacity of the battery, and therefore affects DOD.
